Rick Turner Guitars Renaissance Deuce

Guitarist and Grateful Dead historian David Gans demonstrates his main guitar and performs an acoustic-electric version of “Box of Rain.”

San Francisco Bay Area guitarist and vocalist David Gans divides his time between being a touring performer and working on a wide range of projects related to the legacy of the Grateful Dead, including writing several books and hosting the Grateful Dead Hour radio show. David has been playing Rick Turner guitars for decades, and his acoustic-electric Turner Renaissance instruments have become an essential part of his performance and recording setup. 

David has been playing an almost daily livestream show (check out his YouTube Channel for info) since the Covid lockdown, and he recently suggested doing one of his shows from the Peghead Nation studio. In this video, David demos his latest Renaissance Deuce (built by the Turner Guitars team shortly after company founder Rick Turner’s passing in 2022) and plays the Grateful Dead’s “Box of Rain.” For the full-length video of David’s livestream performance, check out his YouTube Archive.
