Taylor Next Generation Builder’s Edition 514ce Kona Burst

An advanced Grand Auditorium built with shamel ash.

Taylor’s 514ce is a pillar of the company’s line of Grand Auditorium-size instruments. Originally built with a cedar top and mahogany back and sides, the model has had previous variations, including a Builder’s Edition version featuring an armrest bevel, a bevelled cutaway, and chamfered body edges, with back and sides made from sustainably harvested shamel ash that is part of Taylor’s Urban Woods project. I demoed the original Builder’s Edition 514ce Kona Burst about a year ago, and now I’m following up with the latest “Next Generation” version of the guitar, which now includes the adjustable Action Control neck, scalloped V-Class bracing, and Taylor’s new Claria pickup system. In this video, I demo the guitar in the Peghead Nation studio.
