Santa Cruz H13 1976

A special guitar that celebrates all things Santa Cruz.

As Santa Cruz Guitars is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the company has introduced commemorative editions of some popular models (check out our demos of the 50th anniversary  OMPW, 1929 00, FTC, H, and Firefly). Richard Hoover and his team are a class act, and the company’s offerings go beyond celebrating itself. For example, the guitar in this video memorializes the company’s home town of Santa Cruz, California. Based on the H13 model, the instrument is built with a striped San Lorenzo sinker redwood top and sycamore back and sides, which were all harvested locally. The guitar features a peghead inlay depicting the Santa Cruz Boardwalk’s  famous Giant Dipper roller coaster, a scrimshaw surfer on the heelcap, and other nods to the town that helped a small group of hippie luthiers grow into one of the most important guitar makers of our time. The guitar will be part of a special exhibit at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History from June 18th to October 4th, 2026!
