After years of building mandolin-family instruments, Northfield recently introduced its first guitar. Based on the company’s Archtop Octave Mandolin, the new Rival is a short scale (24 inches) archtop guitar, built with an Italian red spruce top and Michigan maple back and sides. The Rival is available with an optional Krivo Slim Line “PAF” pickup, and with Amber or Cromona Sunburst finishes. In this video, guitarist Jason Dennie plays a medley of “Cannonball Rag” and a set of Beatles tunes on an acoustic version of the guitar.
