Tapas Roy & Brian Oberlin, “Kakatua” | Northfield Mandolins
A spontaneous collaboration on a pair of Northfield mandolins.
Northfield builds great mandolins, and the company’s headquarters in Marshall, Michigan, has also been the location of some remarkable musical collaborations. Recently, Indian mandolin virtuoso Tapas Roy met up with Michigan mandolinist Brian Oberlin for a spontaneous session in Northfield’s video studio. In this clip of “Kakatua,” a tune that Tapas wrote earlier that morning, Tapas is playing a Northfield A-4 Special, and Brian is playing a Northfield Artist Series 5-bar F5.
