If I Had a Hammer

In this lesson, you’ll learn to accent strums to give a song a bouncy rhythm, using the folk classic “If I Had a Hammer.” You’ll learn a new way to finger the basic C and F chords that will allow you to play a fun intro to the song that switches between the C and F chords quickly. Playing Melodies: The C Scale, Part 2: More Positions

In this lesson, Marcy shows you a few other ways to play the C scale. You’ll learn to play it by starting on each of the open strings and moving up that string. You’ll start with the open first string (the sixth note of the scale) and playing up the first string to the C note at the 15th fret. Then you’ll start on the open second string (a B note) and play up the second string; up the third string from the open C note; and up the fourth string from the open G.
