Teja Gerken, “The Locktender’s Reel” | Santa Cruz Guitar
Peghead Nation co-founder performs an Eric Skye composition on Eric's personal Santa Cruz 00-SKYE signature model.
Eric Skye is known is the rare guitarist who is known for both his flatpicking and his fingerstyle playing. Several years ago, he collaborated with the Santa Cruz Guitar Company on a signature model, and the resulting 00-SKYE has become one Santa Cruz’s most successful instruments. Peghead Nation co-founder and producer Teja Gerken recently visited Eric at his Portland, Oregon, home, where they shot a few videos in Eric’s kitchen. Having recorded a version of Eric’s tune “The Locktender’s Reel” with Peghead Nation instructor Doug Young on their album “The Water is Wide,” Teja took advantage of being able to record a solo version of his arrangement (which uses CGDGCD tuning) using Eric’s personal Santa Cruz 00-SKYE guitar.
