Bruce and Darol’s Great Big Fiddle Hang | June 14 – 18, 2026
Join Peghead Nation instructors Bruce Molsky and Stash Wyslouch for four days of fiddle and guitar fun in North Adams, Massachusetts.
Peghead Nation fiddle and banjo instructor Bruce Molsky is teaming up with another fiddle legend, Darol Anger, to host Bruce and Darol’s Great Big Fiddle Hang, to be held June 14 – 18, 2026, in North Adams, Massachusetts, headquartered at Porches Inn, right across the street from Mass/MOCA, one of the coolest contemporary art museums in the country. In addition to Bruce and Darol, your hosts will be Peghead Nation guitar instructor Stash Wyslouch and fiddler Jenna Moynihan. Between them, you get Old-Time, Celtic, modern acoustic wizardry, and deep thinking guitar nerdery, all in one big musical stew!
The Great Big Fiddle Hang is four days of learning a few new tunes and building a shared repertoire, poking at the edges of genres and asking, “What happens if we mash this with that?” We’ll be talking rhythm, melody, harmony, ornamentation, and arrangement in a way that’s actually fun, and we’ll turn it all into real-world music in jams, classes, and small groups. One of the big themes is mixing styles – you bring your personal style (your musical “liquid”), and we’ll pour it into a bunch of different “containers” (styles) to see what new shapes it can take – Old time, Celtic, New Acoustic, Rock, who knows what else.
This camp is geared toward intermediate and advanced fiddle/violin and guitar players, people who have been playing for a while and have at least the beginnings of a personal approach, and are curious about improvising, arranging, and collaborating across styles. If you’ve ever thought, “I play [insert style], but I’d love to know how to play with people who do other styles,” this is very much your scene.
The setting of the Great Big Fiddle Hang is comfy, character-filled accommodations, with great food and plenty of it. There is a pool, hot tub, and plenty of outdoor spaces perfect for post-workshop hangs, and there will be a lot of time for informal jams. Basically, it’s an excuse to geek out about music with people who get it, in a place that feels more like a creative playground than “school.”
Your guides through Bruce and Darol’s Great Big Fiddle Hang
Old‑time legend Bruce Molsky is widely hailed as one of the finest traditional musicians of our time, a towering master of fiddle, banjo, and guitar whose playing is both feral and elegant, scholarly and wildly entertaining. Widely described as one of the most influential fiddlers alive, Darol Anger is a fearless, genre‑bending violin visionary who has helped reshape contemporary string music, bringing bluegrass, jazz, and folk into a wildly inventive, deeply grooving new language that has inspired generations of players.
Polish‑Colombian guitarist Stash Wyslouch is considered to be one of bluegrass’s most powerful genre‑bending pioneers—an avant‑garde firebrand whose “sonic kaleidoscope of weirdness and wonder” mixes thrash metal, old‑time, jazz, and classic bluegrass into wildly original, jaw‑dropping music that somehow feels both delightfully zany and deeply soulful.
Scottish‑inspired fiddle luminary Jenna Moynihan is celebrated as one of the finest of the new freestyle generation, a luminous, deeply expressive player whose inventive, soul‑deep tone weaves Scottish, American, and Nordic traditions into music that feels both delicately woven and quietly electrifying. Plus, a few super-talented student interns from the legendary Berklee College of Music will help out and spark things.
