In addition to playing resonator guitar with the likes of Peter Rowan, Laurie Lewis, Sara Watkins, and many others, Mike Witcher teaches Peghead Nation’s two dobro courses. In both his Beginning Dobro and Dobro Workshop courses, Mike brings his gorgeous tone, dead-on intonation, and endless creativity to his online dobro lessons, carefully and effectively showing students techniques that make the dobro sing.
Students just starting out will quickly learn the basics in Mike’s Beginning Dobro course, with essential tips on right- and left-hand technique and easy arrangements of classic tunes. Students with a little more experience with lap-style slide guitar can explore bluegrass and fiddle tunes while learning the techniques of masters like Jerry Douglas, Josh Graves, and others in Mike’s Dobro Workshop.
In this video, Mike plays the 19th century murder ballad “Banks of the Ohio” with Peghead Nation’s Scott Nygaard.
