Making History Episode 5 : L.R. Baggs

L.R. Baggs' Caleb Elling dives into the history of the company's magnetic soundhole pickups.

L.R. Baggs got its start by popularizing undersaddle pickups and pioneering the combination of pickups and internal microphones. But by the early 2000s, company founder Lloyd Baggs decided to add a unique magnetic soundhole pickup to the lineup. The L.R. Baggs M1 series uses a humbucking design with a suspended coil, which senses more of the guitar’s top vibrations than other magnetic pickups, and helps create a hum-free sound. In this video, L.R. Baggs’ Caleb Elling discusses the ideas behind the L.R. Baggs M1 series of pickups, which has become one of the company’s best-selling products.
