Cimarron, Part 1: Melody in Thirds

The Texas swing instrumental “Cimarron”—also called “Cimarron (Roll On)”—was written by country singer-songwriter Johnny Bond in 1940, and it’s been recorded by many people in many ways, including Bob Wills and Riders in the Sky. Matt shows you the basic melody and chords and demonstrates several ways to embellish the tune with harmonies and some varied right-hand techniques. In this video, Matt shows you how to play the melody in thirds with tremolo, which gives it a Mexican/mariachi flavor.
