| Bubbles in My Beer, Part 2: Harmonies |
In this video, Matt shows you how to add harmony lines to the basic melody for “Bubbles in My Beer.” Instead of playing thirds above the melody, which would be typical of many folk idioms, Matt’s three-part harmony is based on fifths, sixths, and tritones, which is closer to what a steel guitar might play and gives it more of a western-swing feel. The implied melody line is in the middle, and after teaching the high and low harmonies, he demonstrates all three parts by singing the lead and playing the harmonies on the guitar.
