Little Pine Siskin, Part 1
John’s tune “Little Pine Siskin,” which he recorded on Walk Along John, sounds like an old-time fiddle tune and has three parts, although the B and C parts only get played once each. John starts by playing the A part through and then breaks it down for you phrase by phrase. He also shows you how he keeps his pick moving, playing open-string chords, when there are long notes in the melody, and shows you the drone notes he’s playing on each part of the A part melody.
