In this lesson, which continues from the previous lessons on arpeggios, Sharon shows you some tips for practicing alternating between chords or arpeggios in the key of A. You’ll learn how to move from A to D, D to E, and A to E. Sharon also introduces the idea of guide tones, and explains how the third and seventh define the chord and help you lead from one chord to another. She shows you which notes are guide tones and which notes are common tones as you move between the I and IV (A and D) chords, I and V (A and E) chords, and IV and V (D and E) chords. Use the downloadable audio rhythm tracks below to practice improvising on all these chord changes.
