Session 5: C Tunes, Part 1: “Done Gone” |
In this session, you’ll learn two fiddle tunes in the key of C, “Done Gone” and “Rocky Pallet,” as well as a fiddle break to the classic old-time song “Richmond Blues” (also known as “All Night Long Blues”) in the key of C. “Done Gone” is most often played by bluegrass and Texas fiddlers in the key of Bb, but Georgia fiddler Clayton McMichen recorded a great version in the key of C in the 1920s. McMichen was also partially responsible for “Rocky Pallet,” recorded when he was a member of the iconic Georgia old-time string band the Skillet Lickers, one of the most successful country acts of the 1920s.
