How to Play “Wagon Wheel”

In this lesson you’ll learn to play the jam-session favorite “Wagon Wheel,” using two different roll patterns, the alternating thumb roll and the forward reverse roll. Bill gives you advice on changing chords and keeping the roll going even if your fingers haven’t quite managed to finger the complete chord yet.

Old Joe Clark, Part 2

You’ll learn the second part of “Old Joe Clark” in this video. Bill plays it through slowly and then takes it apart phrase by phrase. The second part of “Old Joe Clark” uses an F chord, which you might have learned in the Vamping lesson. Bill shows you the F chord and gives you a few exercises to help you get used to fretting it. After showing you the B part of “Old Joe Clark,” Bill plays the whole tune through at a slow tempo so you can play along with him, and ends by playing it a medium jam tempo.
