Crosspicking, Part 3: “Home Sweet Home” Second Part
Once you've become familiar with the 3-3-2 rolls used for most of the first part of "Home Sweet Home," you'll start mixing the rolls up a bit in the second part. Those 3-3-2 rolls work best with the melody on the bottom note of the three-note group and with two other strings on top. But the second part of "Home Sweet Home" starts up on the C note on the B string, so you don't have two strings above it to fill out the roll. Scott shows you a backward roll you can use when the melody is on the top strings, and then uses back-and-forth rolls to continue the melody, which descends C–B–A–G.
