Sierra Hull on the EleOcto “Forza” | Northfield Mandolins
The contemporary mandolin star demonstrates the new short scale version of Northfield's revolutionary electric octave mandolin.
Northfield’s EleOcto is an innovative acoustic-electric instrument that fuses an octave mandolin with electric guitar construction. Contemporary mandolin star Sierra Hull was among the first players to start using an EleOcto, and recently, she asked whether Northfield could make a version of the instrument with a shorter scale. The result is the new ElectoOcto “Forza,” which has a 19-inch scale (instead of the standard 22 inches) and a sleeker body design. In this video, Sierra discusses why she prefers the shorter scale for playing lead and how she uses the EleOcto in her set, and she gives several playing demonstrations.
