Bluegrass fiddler John Mailander, originally from Southern California, now living in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the most talented young fiddlers on the scene, as you can hear in this video and on his first solo album Walking Distance. In his playing you can hear echoes of all the great bluegrass fiddlers, including Kenny Baker, Vassar Clements, and others, and he is also adept at old-time and other styles. He often performs with Tony Trischka, Darol Anger, and Molly Tuttle. When he was in the studio to tape a segment for Brittany Haas’s Fiddle Styles Workshop they got warmed up on the Bill Monroe classic “Road to Columbus.” johnmailander.com
