Never Come Down: “Moscow”

Never Come Down, the Portland, Oregon-based band that includes Crystal Lariza (vocals and guitar), Joe Suskind (guitar), Kaden Hurst (mandolin), Lillian Sawyer (fiddle), and Matt Holmes (bass), joined us in the Peghead Parlor at the Wintergrass Music Festival in Bellevue, Washington, earlier this year for a special late-night showcase set. In this video, they are joined by their talented, young, and very tall friend, Henry Strid, on banjo, as they rip through their original song “Moscow,” written by Joe. So much fun!

During the Wintergrass Festival, we also launched a new stand-alone class, Three-Part Vocal Harmony with Never Come Down. In this, the first of our new Peghead Sessions series, Crystal, Kaden, and Joe walk you through the fundamentals of singing three-part bluegrass harmony. Weaving together modern and traditional styles of American music, Never Come Down is a Portland, Oregon-based band composed of Joe Suskind (guitar), Crystal Lariza (vocals), Lillian Sawyer (fiddle), and Kaden Hurst (mandolin). Their dedication to thoughtful songwriting and dynamic arrangements highlights polished technical skills and a commitment to listening to each other. Formed in 2018, the band began touring extensively, steadily cultivating a passionate fan base in the Pacific Northwest and eventually around the country. NCD released their first studio album, Better Late Than Never, in 2021 and their second LP, Greener Pastures, in 2024.
