In this video, Ethan pushes beyond basic bluegrass chopping and shows you a style of half-time chopping with two-note chords made popular by Sam Bush and other post-Monroe mandolinists. Ethan shows you how to build on a “grid” of continuous eighth-note strums with the right hand and then use a combination of simple two-note chords on the lower strings with left- and right-hand muting methods to create syncopated grooves.
