Aaron Weinstein’s Jazz Violin course is designed for fiddlers and violinists who have either never played jazz and swing before or want to gain more experience and repertoire in the genre. In each lesson, Aaron presents a pre-composed solo for a popular jazz and swing standard, and the first eight lessons focus on one device or tool used for improvising.
Songs covered in this course include “Honeysuckle Rose,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” and many more. Topics covered include using melody as an improvisational tool, finding motives, arpeggios, harmonic entry points, and more.
Each lesson includes notation (downloadable PDFs) for each solo, as well as analysis of the solo by Aaron and a play-along video track of the solo as taught. Lessons also include play-along audio backing tracks at fast and slow tempos by master guitarist Matt Munisteri or a mandolin backing track by Aaron himself.
