Introduction to Jigs, Part 1
In this introduction to playing jigs, Marla shows you the right-hand picking pattern (down-up-down, down-up down) she uses to play jigs, which are in 6/8 time. Marla explains the jig rhythm and the importance of accenting the first and third beats of the three-note patterns. You’ll also learn a number of simple exercises that will help you practice the jig picking pattern so you can become comfortable with it before you start learning jig melodies.
