Also known as “Mulqueen’s” or “Mulqueeny’s,” this session favorite is a 16-bar “single” reel in the standard AABB format. Flynn says he learned it “from the ether” in the course of playing with other folks, but there are scores of great recordings of the tune—often in medleys—including versions by Kevin Burke, Buttons and Bows, and this lovely version in the key of C by Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill. Flynn teaches it in the more common key of D major. Flynn reviews some of the techniques you’ll use and teaches the A part of the tune in this video.
