Written in 1933 by Will Hudson and Irving Mills with lyrics by Eddie DeLange, "Moonglow" (sometimes called "Moonglow and Love”) is an enduring jazz and swing standard. Often played as a relaxed foxtrot, it has been recorded by hundreds of artists over the decades, including Duke Ellington, the Benny Goodman Quartet, and Django Reinhardt with the Quintet of the Hot Club of France featuring Stéphane Grappelli. Like many jazz standards, the original song’s introductory “verse” is rarely played, and the AABA chorus/bridge structure is the typical form. Aaron teaches “Moonglow” in the key of Bb, but the progression starts on an Eb—the IV chord in this key. In this video, Aaron takes you through the chord progression.
