One of the ways you can start embellishing melodies is by varying the pickups to lines of the melody. In “Worried Man Blues” the vocal pickup is just one word/note: “it.” In this video, Lauren shows you how you can start varying the pickup rhythmically and melodically.

Lauren adds a couple of new ideas in this final lesson about soloing on “Sitting Alone in the Moonlight.” She shows you how to shift into third position to pick up some high double stops, using a handshape and fingering similar to what you already learned in Bb, and then how to revoice some of the harmonies in a lower position for the B part.
