Taylor is expanding its affordable 200 series with a pair of new Grand Concert models. “These new models embody the best of the best for smaller-bodied, layered-wood guitars,” says Andy Powers, Taylor’s Chief Guitar Designer, President and CEO.
The new 212ce (starting at $1,099) is built with a solid Sitka spruce top and layered Indian rosewood back and sides; a combination that has been popular with other Taylor grand Concert models. Appointments include Italian acrylic dot inlays, a matte finish, white binding and chrome tuners. The guitar includes Taylor’s ES2 electronics and a structured gig bag.
The 222ce-K DLX (starting at 1,899) is build with a solid koa top and layered koa back and sides, giving the guitar an upscale appearance that is further enhanced by the use of gold hardware and an edgeburst finish. Other details include black binding, a black pickguard and small diamond fretboard inlays in Italian acrylic. The stunning visuals are matched by a warm, woody koa tone with a rich midrange and articulate treble notes that will appeal to fingerstyle players as well as flatpickers and strummers. The guitar also features ES2 electronics, and includes Taylor’s deluxe hardshell case.
