Peghead Nation students probably know Evie Ladin for her Clawhammer Banjo and banjo workshops, but she is also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, dancer, and body-percussionist. When playing guitar, Evie plays both fingerstyle and with a flatpick, and her search for a comfortable small-body guitar led her to a 1967 Gibson B-25. Her instrument was made during a short period during which the model had an especially narrow neck. In this video, Evie discusses what she was looking for in a guitar, how she found the B-25, and performs a bit of the Carter Family’s “Honey Lou” to demonstrate the guitar’s unique charms.
