Beard Guitars Josh Swift Signature Model

Mike Witcher demonstrates the unique-looking collaboration between the bluegrass resophonic guitarist and luthier Paul Beard.

Resophonic guitar specialist Paul Beard has built signature models for several artists, but his collaboration with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver’s Josh Swift has resulted in the most radical design yet. With its satin “purple reign” finish, rounded edges, and black hardware, the guitar looks different from any other dobro-style guitar. Based on Beard’s E-shape “open body” design, the instrument is built with solid curly maple top, back, and sides and includes Beard’s triple-spun Legend cone. In this video, part of a series of Beard guitar demos, Peghead Nation dobro instructor Mike Witcher plays the instrument.
