Tony McManus, “Declan”/”Mrs. Campbell of Shinness”
Peghead Nation Celtic Guitar instructor plays a gorgeous fingerstyle medley.
Peghead Nation Celtic Guitar instructor Tony McManus is a master of creating intricate solo fingerstyle arrangements of traditional Scottish, Irish, and other music (and as his work with fiddler Alasdair Frasier shows, he’s equally adept at accompanying others!).
When Tony was on tour in California in May, he stopped by the Peghead Nation studio to play a few solo tunes. In this video, he performs a fingerstyle set of Donal Lunny’s “Declan” and the traditional Scottish jig “Mrs. Campbell of Shinness.” Tony is playing a Greenfield G1 built with Malaysian blackwood and German spruce in DADGAD tuning.
During his stop, Tony also played a beautiful tribute to the late Soïg Sibéril (“Teolina”/“Sleep, Deary, Sleep”) and walked through some of the details of his miniature Greenfield G5 guitar.
