Bruce Molsky and Micah John: “Saturday Night Waltz”

Peghead Nation fiddle instructor plays an old-time tune, accompanied by a talented Boston-based multi-instrumentalist.

Among our Old-Time Fiddle and Old-Time Banjo instructor Bruce Molsky’s many gifts is finding, encouraging, and collaborating with the next generation of roots music talent. That inclination is alive in his projects like Molsky’s Mountain Drifters, which has included his fellow Peghead instructor Stash Wyslouch as well as Allison de Groot and Reed Stutz, and in his teaching in the American Roots Program at Berklee College of Music.

In this video, Bruce is joined by multi-instrumentalist Micah John to play “Saturday Night Waltz,” an old-time tune attributed to Fiddling Bob Larkan & His Music Makers. Micah is an old-time musician, songwriter, and vocalist based in Boston, and she gigs in various configurations around New England. Great stuff!
