Wintergrass 2o22, which happened in Bellevue, Washington last February, brought together a wonderful lineup of bands and players, including a contingent of Peghead Nation’s talented instructors. Among those gathered were Joe K. Walsh, there with his band Mr Sun (Joe, fiddle legend Darol Anger, guitar master Grant Gordy, and jazz/roots bassist Aidan O’Donnell),  who played multiple sets prepping for the release of their upcoming album, Extrovert.

And Peghead Nation’s Old-Time Fiddle and Old-Time Banjo instructor Bruce Molsky was there as well, playing with Michael Daves and a host of old-time and bluegrass power players, and celebrating the release of his excellent new guitar album, Everywhere You Go (Tiki Parlour Recordings) with a fun guitar set.

Part of the joy of the event was witnessing the collaborations, both on-stage and off, between some of the best players in roots music. In this exclusive Peghead Nation video, Joe and Bruce took a moment in front of the fire to play the old-time tune “Solly’s Little Favorite.” Joe recorded this tune in a fun mashup with the Greg Brown song “Ain’t Nobody Like You” on his album Sweet Loam,  and Mr Sun regularly plays that version during their concerts. Which you should go check out! Enjoy this fireside moment with two of the best.
