Ethan Setiawan Makes Coffee
Peghead Nation mandolin instructor demonstrates the pour-over setup that keeps him caffeinated on the road.
Peghead Nation instructors are a multi-talented bunch, and occasionally, their video shoots go beyond teaching you new playing skills. Inspired by fellow instructor Aaron Weinstein’s How to Tie A Bow Tie video, Ethan Setiawan recently suggested a demonstration of his on-the-road pour-over coffee setup, and you can see his setup and technique in this video.
Ethan’s rig includes a Brentwood collapsible kettle (“John Reischman uses the same one,” he says), a Timemore Chestnut C2 manual grinder, a MiiCoffee Nano Scale, a size 02 Hario Zebrang V60 dripper, and Hario paper filters. Ethan likes to seek out local coffee roasters, but at the time of his visit, he was carrying a supply of a light roast by Rogue Wave of Alberta, Canada.
